Copperfoot Copperfoot on Lastfm

Band Bio

The Beginning

Since 2005, Copperfoot has been bringing you it's southern-country-american-rock music.  But before there was a full band, there was two brothers, and a desire.  Jeff Boyer, the leader and primary songwriter of Copperfoot, decided to play guitar one day back near the turn of the century.  He asked his talented brother to teach him, and Gary Boyer took on the challenge.  The duo started putting together some songs.  Jeff wanted to record some of them, so he called his cousin, Dano knowing he had experience in recording and was also a musician. So, in Dano's dining room, they recorded 'Buddy Holly Gets Laid'.  All parties having enjoyed the collaboration, they decided to get together, play, and write.  Thus formed The Folkin' Billies.

The Folkin' Billies

The Folkin' Billies had one monthly gig for 6 months or so in a sub shop / bar in Lakewood.  Jeff played acoustic guitar, Gary played lead, and Dano played bass.  All members of this family affair sang, but Jeff was the lead vocalist.  They successfully performed an interesting blend of original and cover material.  Once the regular gig dried up that winter, the band pretty much took a break and the members went heir separate ways.

It didn't take too long for Jeff to have a need to scratch that itch once again, and so Jeff and Gary were at it once more.  Dano, was not immediately asked to join since he was involved in other projects.  So, Jeff brought the talents of Tom Lynch to the band to play bass.  It wasn't until that trio had been practicing for a while that Dano was given the call and placed in his natural place, behind the drum kit.  This 4 piece became the first incarnation of Copperfoot.

Copperfoot is born

Copperfoot's first gig as a full band was December 30th, 2005 at the Century Tavern.  The band's originals were well received given their hooky nature, and a steady stream of gigs followed.  Adam Constantine joined the band shortly after, bringing the big sounds of his Hammond & Leslie to 'The Foot'.  Adam had previously played in various projects with Dano, so there was already some musical chemistry there.  With the new 5 piece, composing took on a new life, and the band would use gigs to try out new material when they thought it was ready.

The Studio

Once the band determined it had enough quality original material to record an album, they went into the studio to lay down 'One Card Shy' .  It was a full length record with 10 songs, and was completely mastered.  However, because of personality conflicts, Tom Lynch left the band, and the record was cut to 6 songs prior to it's release.

May-Gihn

In steps Megan Clay (now Megan Constantine).  Since she had contributed her talents in the studio, and knew all the songs, not to mention is uber talented, she was a shoo-in to be Copperfoot's next bass player.  With the new line-up the band continued giging around Cleveland, and writing new material.  Not too long after Megan joined the band, she became pregnant, and decided to leave the band, leaving 'The Foot' bass-less once again.

Adam...Not nearly good enough

After searching for a month or so, Jeff happened upon Adam Christian who was playing with another band.  He was invited to jam with Copperfoot.  Dano, being the hypercritical and satirical nut he is, jokingly responded to Adam's question of "How'd I do?", with "You're not nearly good enough".  Apparently taking it to heart, the next week he came back knowing all the originals forwards and backwards.  He also threatened to kill Dano in the face till he was dead for his comment.
